The hardest part of hiring has never been the interview—it's finding the right people to interview in the first place. Recruiters spend countless hours manually crafting Boolean searches, scrolling through LinkedIn profiles, and experimenting with keyword combinations, often with diminishing returns and no guarantee of quality. At Hyrr, the AI takes the first pass.

Our AI-Powered Candidate Sourcing engine transforms a single job description into a fully ranked pipeline of qualified candidates—automatically. No manual searching, no keyword guessing, no wasted hours. Just intelligent, autonomous talent discovery powered by the same AI that conducts our interviews.

Here is how it works.

1. Autopilot Mode: Zero-Configuration Talent Discovery

When an employer opens a job's Candidate Sourcing tab, a search runs on its own. There are no filters to configure, no Boolean operators to learn, and no search strings to craft.

With Use Autopilot on (the default there), the AI reads the full job description, extracts the critical requirements, and autonomously generates an optimized multi-strategy search plan. It understands not just keywords but intent: the difference between needing a "Senior Mechanical Engineer" who specializes in HVAC design versus one focused on structural analysis.

  • Intelligent Keyword Extraction: The AI distills the job description into precise search terms—job titles, technical skills, required certifications, and domain-specific terminology—without any human input.
  • Multi-Strategy Search: Rather than relying on a single query, the engine simultaneously executes multiple search strategies with varying combinations of titles, keywords, and geographic filters. This layered approach maximizes recall while maintaining precision.
  • Automatic Geographic Broadening: If the initial city-level search returns insufficient results, the AI automatically broadens to province/state, then country level—ensuring a robust candidate pool regardless of market density.

The employer sees none of this complexity. They simply navigate to the Candidate Sourcing tab and find a ranked list of pre-qualified candidates waiting for review.

2. Intelligent Company Exclusion: Protecting Your Talent Strategy

One of the most overlooked risks in passive sourcing is accidentally surfacing your own employees—or candidates from partner companies you've agreed not to poach from.

Hyrr solves this with an automatic company exclusion layer that operates silently in the background:

  • Self-Exclusion: The moment a sourcing search begins, the platform automatically looks up the posting company's name and injects it as an exclusion filter into every search strategy. Profiles listing your company as their current employer are excluded from your sourcing results.
  • Manual Exclusion Lists: Employers can specify additional companies to exclude—competitors under non-solicitation agreements, strategic partners, or any organization they wish to avoid targeting. These exclusions are configured directly within the job's sourcing settings.
  • AI-Normalized Matching: Company names entered in any casing or format are automatically normalized using AI (e.g., "acme corp" → "Acme Corp", "hyrr ai" → "Hyrr AI") to ensure exclusion filters match accurately against the candidate database, regardless of how the data was originally entered.

This protection applies across initial searches, refreshes, and pagination.

3. Sourcing During Job Creation: Configuring Filters Before the First Search

The sourcing experience begins even before a search is executed. During job creation or editing, employers can pre-configure their sourcing strategy through the Candidate Sourcing step:

  • Autopilot Toggle: A single checkbox enables or disables AI-driven search. When Autopilot is on, the AI handles everything. When turned off, a comprehensive manual filter panel appears.
  • Manual Override Filters: For employers who want granular control, the platform exposes over a dozen filterable dimensions: job titles, keywords, cities, states, countries, current and previous companies, company exclusions, education degrees, institutions, and areas of expertise.
  • Persistent Configuration: All sourcing settings are saved as part of the job document. When an employer revisits the Candidate Sourcing page weeks later, their configured filters and exclusions are preserved exactly as they left them.
  • Live Refresh: After adjusting any filter—whether adding a company exclusion or switching from Autopilot to manual mode—a single click on "Refresh" re-executes the search with the updated parameters, delivering a fresh candidate pool in real time.

4. AI-Ranked Results: Quality Over Quantity

Raw candidate lists are useless without prioritization. Our sourcing engine doesn't just find candidates—it ranks them by relevance to the specific job.

  • Relevance Scoring: Every candidate is scored on a 0–100 scale based on how closely their profile matches the job's requirements. The ranking algorithm considers job title alignment, skill overlap, geographic proximity, seniority level, and recency of profile activity.
  • Score-Based Organization: Candidates are displayed in descending order of relevance score, with clear visual indicators—Excellent (80+), Good (60+), Fair (40+)—so employers can immediately focus on the strongest matches.
  • Rich Profile Cards: Each result displays the candidate's current title, company, location, seniority, years in role, prior industries, certifications, and key skills—all without requiring a full profile reveal. Employers can assess fit at a glance.
  • Incremental Discovery: The "Load More" feature fetches additional pages from the candidate database, automatically deduplicating results and re-sorting the entire pool by relevance score. The pipeline grows progressively without any degradation in quality.

5. Seamless Transition: From Sourced to Interviewed

Candidate sourcing on Hyrr is not a standalone silo—it feeds directly into the platform's interview pipeline.

  • One-Click Invitation: When an employer identifies a strong candidate, a single "Invite" button reveals the candidate's full profile and contact details. The platform instantly generates an interview invitation, bridging the gap between passive sourcing and active engagement.
  • Unified Workflow: Invited candidates appear in the employer's standard candidate management pipeline, maintaining complete continuity from discovery through live AI interview and final assessment.
  • No Context Lost: Because sourcing is integrated directly into the job's lifecycle, every configuration decision, every exclusion rule, and every invited candidate is tracked within the same job document—providing a complete audit trail of the sourcing funnel.

Conclusion

AI-Powered Candidate Sourcing on Hyrr eliminates the most time-consuming bottleneck in recruitment. By combining intelligent job analysis, multi-strategy search execution, automatic company exclusion, and AI-driven relevance ranking, the platform transforms a job description into a qualified, prioritized talent pipeline—without a single manual search query.

Recruiters no longer need to be search experts. They describe the role, and Hyrr's AI takes the first pass through a pool of passive-candidate profiles.
